The Principles of the Pro Golf Swing :

Developing consistency and confidence in your golf game starts by developing first a better understanding of how the design of the golf club influences the behavior of your golf balls. Each golf club is designed with very fine tolerances and has been built to help you gain a level of control over the trajectory, curvature and speed of the ball. Your job is to use the golf club correctly, that is to use it in such a way that you hit consistent golf shots that you are satisfied with ... Most of the time. But as you already know, this is definitely a challenge given the amount of conflicting information you need to sift through to find the best way to properly use the golf club.

The Principles of the Pro Golf Swing

We all want to hit the ball better and learn how to apply the principles of professional golf swing will certainly help you develop consistency and confidence. Here are the principles of professional golf swing that I think will help you hit the golf ball more solidly and consistently, which will allow you to gain confidence on the golf course.

Principle # 1 - Control the angle of the golf shaft as it strikes the golf ball :

Trajectory control begins with understanding the relationship between the head or striking end of the golf club and the holding handle or end when the golf club hits the golf ball. There are three conditions in which the golf handle can be found when it hits the ball. The tree may tilt forward towards the target, it may not have a tilt, or it may lean back away from the target. When using an iron or wood, we ideally want the golf handle to be slightly leaning forward when the golf ball deviates from the face of the club.

How do you do it?

Practice hitting your golf shots by trying to hit your golf shots as low as possible with a seven-iron without moving the upper body towards the target until the golf ball has left the face of the club. Practice t golfing under low tree branches and bushes and focus on hitting the ball before the ground. You may have noticed that PGA Tour professionals often use the punch when they hit their approach shots in the green.

Principle # 2 - Control the clubface angle as the club head strikes the golf ball :

The face of the club may be in one of three conditions when the golf ball is hit. It can be open to the target line, square to the target line or closed to the target line. It is useful to know that the golf club should not be square to impact but in fact slightly open. The reason is that there is a very important distinction that you need to be aware of. Rather than considering impact as the moment the club comes into contact with the golf ball, consider it as two distinct moments in your golf swing: impact or collision and separation. When the golf club comes into contact with the ball, the face of the club must be slightly open and not square, and during the time the golf ball is in contact with the face of the club, it "squares" and the ball deviates or separates from the face of the club.

How do you do that?

The key to this is to make sure that your hands, when applied to the handle, are positioned so that the pressure is behind the handle rather than on top. The best example I can give you is to imagine that you are pushing a shopping cart or lawnmower and you are thinking about the position of your hands on the handle. The strongest position for your hands is behind the handle when you apply pressure to move the object forward. This is no different on a golf club where the goal is to apply pressure to the back of the golf ball. If you want to hit stronger and longer shots, make sure both hands are slightly turned behind the golf club handle.

Principle 3 - The accelerating golf club must decelerate as late as possible.

A golf club at the beginning of the descent accelerates, reaches maximum acceleration, and then decelerates until it stops. Every golf club rocked by a human being does that. You may have heard commentators describe how professionals "accelerate through the ball," which is a good idea, but in fact it doesn't quite happen like that. In fact, the golf club slows down when it comes into contact with the golf ball and for some golfers it slows down quite quickly. The key is to reduce the deceleration so that it occurs as late as possible.

How do you do that?

Make short backswings with a full and full wrist tail. Bring your arms back around 9 o'clock with the head of the club directly up. From this position, switch the club to the finish position and create a loud sound on the target side of the golf ball. As you hesitate, your golf club swings into a perfectly balanced finish position. The key to this practice method is to focus solely on developing the whoosh in front of the golf ball rather than the golf ball. Now transfer the feel to your golf swing by always focusing on creating the whoosh in front of the golf ball.

Practice developing the principles of professional golf swing and incorporate them into your golf swing. With constant practice, you will begin to notice improved results leading to more consistency and confidence in golf.
